Services Feb. 5 For Laurits Hansen

Memorial services were held last Saturday afternoon, Feb. 5, 1972 for Laurits (Louis) Hansen, 79, of Dike. The 1 p.m. services were held at the Dike Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert W. Hoover, Jr., United Methodist Church of Dike, officiating. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike.

Pall bearers were E. R. Goetzinger, D. E. Cathcart, Pete Badje, Kurt Kelley, Don Rittgers & Pete Fairbanks. Flower attendants were Mrs. E. R. Goetzinger and Mrs. Edward Marks.

Public viewing at the Chapel was from Thursday evening until service time Saturday afternoon.

Laurits Hansen was born April 30, 1892 in Veddinge, Denmark, the son of Hans and Bertha S. Jensen Hansen. He came to America in 1908. On Oct. 17, 1914 he married Marie Henningsen at Dike. He became a naturalized citizen in 1918.

He operated the Hansen Hatchery at Dike for 33 years. His entire married life was spent in the Dike area.

He had been a patient at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital for two weeks prior to his passing away.

Survivors include his widow, Marie; one son, Victor, at home; two cousins, Mrs. Carrie Andersen of Parkersburg and Mrs. Bertha Johnson who resides at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, two brothers and five sisters.
