M. E. Hunter passed away at his home, 1115 West Nineteenth street, Cedar Falls, about midnight Friday night of last week after an illness of several weeks caused by fatty heart.

At the time of his death Mr. Hunter was 65 years of age. For many years he was a resident of Lincoln township, Grundy county, where he owned a large farm. He was a staunch Republican and was always active in county and state politics and was known as a man who believed in honesty, right and justice in politics as well as in all other transactions of life. He was a man of the highest honor among men and a strong believer in what he thought was right and as such was held in highest esteem by all who knew him.

M. E. Hunter was the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. L. Hunter, of Cedar Falls. He is survived by his wife and two sons, William and Theodore. The latter was graduated from the high school training department at the State Teachers College this summer. William is in the army, and is stationed at present at Pensacola, Florida. He came home a few days ago to spend a furlough with his parents. There are also two sisters and a brother of Mr. Hunter surviving, Miss Clara Hunter of 603 Franklin street, Cedar Falls, Mrs. J. M. Fisk, LaJunta, Colorado, and Frank Hunter, of Minneapolis.

Short funeral services were held at the home Sunday at 1 p.m. conducted by Rev. J. W. Holland, following which the remains were taken to Dike, his former home where further services were held in the Methodist church of that place.
