Last Rites Saturday For Mrs. Fannie Koch

Memorial services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Fannie Rosetta Koch, 84. The 2 p.m. services were at the United Methodist church with Pastor Donavon Kack of Waterloo and Pastor Robert Hoover Jr. officiating. Casketbearers were Harlan Horner, Edward Lee, Dale Lee, James Lee, Donald Freeman and Verlyn Friedow.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graves sang "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art." They were accompanied by Mrs. John Paige, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

John Volberding and Adam F. Deadrick served as ushers. Mrs. George Duisman and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lauterbach were in charge of the floral arrangements.

The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements. Public viewing was held at the Chapel from Thursday evening until noon Saturday when it was taken to the church. Interment was in the Elmwood cemetery at Dike.

Fannie Rosetta Koch was born in Long Pine, Neb., May 26, 1887. She was the oldest of six children born to Jasper and Esther Manning Lee. At the age of 8 she came to Iowa with her parents, settling in Waverly. At age 15 her family moved to Dike.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, having been baptized into the faith at the age of 12 years at Waverly.

On Oct. 31, 1907, she was united in marriage to Theodore Koch at Fern, Iowa. They lived a long life together, celebrating their golden wedding in 1957. During this period they farmed south of Dike for many years, they moved to Cedar Falls for 13 years, and again to Dike.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Herman (Doris) Prahm and Elsie Marcella in infancy; two brothers; two sisters; one grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Al (Della) Kristensen, Dike, and Mrs. Al (Vera) Camarata of Cedar Falls; one son, Laurence Koch of Dike; one sister, Mrs. Donald Freeman of Hampton, 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
