Theodore Koch Dies at Hospital

Theodore Koch died Saturday morning at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health the past seven years. He suffered a stroke seven years ago. He was stricken with a heart attack a short time before his death. He had been a patient in the hospital ten days. The body was taken to the Dahl Funeral Home at Cedar Falls. He was 76 years old.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Dike on Tuesday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. Gleim.

Burial was in Elmwood cemetery at Dike.

Mr. Koch was born in Grant township, July 10, 1881. He was the youngest of 7 children of Frederick and Dora Koch. On Oct. 31, 1907, he was married to Fannie Lee. The couple farmed near Dike until 1938 when they moved to Cedar Falls where Mr. Koch was employed by the Viking Pump Company until he suffered a stroke seven years ago after which he and his wife moved to Dike and had since lived here.

He is survived by his widow; one son, Laurence Koch, Grundy Center; three daughters, Mrs. Herman Prahm, Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Della Andersen, Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Alfred Camarata, Cedar Falls. Twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and a daughter, Elsie Marcella.

Last October Mr. and Mrs. Koch celebrated their golden wedding, their family holding open house for them. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran church, being baptized and confirmed in that faith.
