Memorial Services Monday Afternoon For Mrs. J. Johnson
Memorial services were held last Monday afternoon, Dec. 8, 1972, for Mrs. Julia Johnson, 63, of Dike.
Mrs. Johnson was pronounced dead on arrival at the Sartori Hospital, Cedar Falls, last Friday evening shortly after being involved in a two-car accident at 6:10 p.m. two miles east of Dike on Highway 57.
The funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Dike at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Hoover, Jr. officiating. Vocal selections, "In The Garden" and "I Will Pilot Thee" were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graves. Mrs. John Paige presided at the organ and accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Graves. Flower attendants were Mrs. Leonard Posekany, Mrs. Russell Mommer and Mrs. Gerald Bruns. Pallbearers were Leonard Posekany, Russell Mommer, Clifton Weatherly, O. W. Moore, Soren Schmidt of Dike and Lyman Knudsen of Waterloo. Burial was in the Dike Elwood Cemetery.
Julia Jeanette Johnson was born in Dike on Nov. 2, 1909, the daughter of Peter and Olive Treat Johnson. She attended and was a graduate of the Dike School.
She married Thomas "Dutch" Johnson, Jr. on Feb. 26, 1923 in Dike. Mrs. Johnson had been a bookkeeper for Bartine Motors in Cedar Falls for the past nine years. She had been a resident of Dike her entire life.
Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis, Mrs. Darrell Arends, Parkersburg; and one granddaughter, Debbie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one infant brother.
The Dike Funeral Chapel were in charge of the arrangements.
