Dutch Johnson Passes Away Suddenly

Thomas "Dutch" Johnson, 64, passed away quite suddenly and unexpectedly last Saturday night. He became ill late in the evening and was taken in the Dike ambulance to the Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls. He passed away early Sunday morning.

He was born in Woodson, Ill. on Jan. 8, 1905, the son of Thomas and Lucy Devore Johnson. He was married to Julia Johnson in Dike on February 26, 1932. He had lived in Dike for the past 37 years. He had been a livestock buyer most of his life.

Funeral services were to be held yesterday, Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Dike United Methodist church at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Bob Hoover Jr., was to officiate. Burial was to be in the Elmwood cemetery, Dike.

He is survived by his widow, Julia; one daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Phyllis) Arends of RR2, Parkersburg; one sister, Mrs. Jake Edith Alberts, Dike, and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
