P. J. Johnson Dies Friday Following Stroke

Pete J. Johnson died at the Sartori hospital in Cedar Falls at 3 o'clock Friday morning from a cerebral hemorrhage with which he was stricken Wednesday afternoon. He was backing his car out of the driveway leading to his garage. The car became stalled in the snow. He was clearing a track for his car with the snow shovel and the exertion of the work is believed to have brought on the stroke. Treat of Charles City. He lived in the vicinity of Parkersburg and New Hartford until coming to Dike in 1902, where he operated a meat market for five years. Following that he engaged in the livestock business up to the time of his death. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah lodges in Dike; also of encampment of I.O.O.F. in Cedar Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Dike Methodist church with Rev. William Galbreth officiating. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery, at Dike.
