Elsie Kessler, 90

Elsie Kessler, 90, of Grundy Center, died December 29 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were January 2 at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland with Pastor Larry Hoop officiating. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. A memorial fund has been established.

Elsie was born June 24, 1911 in Dike, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Larsen) Lubbert. Elsie attended school in Dike. On May 28, 1932, Elsie was united in marriage to John "Elmer" Kessler in Grundy Center. After living in several communities, they moved to Grundy Center in 1962. Elsie was a homemaker.

Elsie was a member of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland. She enjoyed gardening and embroidering in her earlier years. She enjoyed having friends come and visit her.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Jones of Grundy Center; one son, Jerry Kessler and his wife Linda of Parkersburg; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Leona Card of Aplington.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970; her parents; two sons in infancy; one granddaughter in infancy; four brothers; and two sisters.
