Services Held For Kathryn Clapp

Kathryn Jane Clapp, of Dike, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 1996, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. She died of natural causes at the age of 75.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Mon., Dec. 30, at the Dike United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike.

Pallbearers were Dwayne Clapp, John McCarter, Russell Druvenga, Thomas Boe, Bob Biersner, and William Nielsen.

Kathryn was born on July 6, 1921, in Holyoke, Mass. She was the daughter of Henry and Viola Marx, Sr. She was married to Ben Clapp on October 25, 1946, in Dike.

Mrs. Clapp dedicated herself to her family and was an active community member in Dike for over 50 years. Kathryn was president of the Dike Library Board for many years and was very proud to see the new library built in Dike.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Viola Marx.

Kathryn Clapp is survived by her husband, Ben; two sons and their families, Ken and Rossi and their children Veronica and Kendra of Grand Rapids, MI, and James and Shirley and their daughters Cindy and Angela of Arlington, IA; two brothers, Edward Marx of Attleboro, Mass., and Henry Marx, Jr. of Munson, Mass; and a sister, Margaret Richter of Pittsfield, Mass.

Memorials may be directed to the Dike Public Library, Grundy County Hospice, or the Dike United Methodist Church.

The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
