Young--Robert W., Died of pneumonia May 8, 1996 at Sharp Memorial Hospital. He was born in Hampton, Iowa on June 23, 1915. He attended Grinnell College obtaining his BA degree in economics in 1939. From July 1942 to May 1946, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army Air Force in the European Theater of Operations. In 1946 he joined his wife Georgette who was living in San Diego. Robert worked for General Dynamics Corporation from 1953 to 1981, retiring as Insurance Administrator. Robert & Georgette spent their retirement years traveling in many parts of the world with dear friends & their golf clubs. He was an avid golfer. His fondest achievement was scoring a hole in one on the 7th hold at Pebble Beach Golf Course. He was active in the Junior Golf Program scoring for their tournaments & housing young golfers from Thailand, Uruguay & other parts of the world. He is survived by his loving wife after almost 53 happy years & many dear friends & neighbors. Memorial contributions may be made to the San Diego Humane Society or the Junior Golf Program.
