Harvey Van Lengen

Harvey Van Lengen, 54, of 824 Forest Ave., died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday of cancer, at St. Francis Hospital.

He was born April 20, 1916, in Aplington, the son of Henry and Hiska Gersema Van Lengen. He married Norma Hesse May 12, 1946.

Mr. Van Lengen lived in Waterloo for 24 years and was employed at Rath Packing Co. for 20 years before retiring three years ago because of illness.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Amvets, having served in the United States Navy before and during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; three sons, Ray of 121 Randolph St., Charles in the U.S. Army in California, and Gary at home; two daughters, Marla and Karmyn, both at home; two grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas and Marvin, both of Mason City and Ben of Steamboat Rock; five sisters, Mrs. Jennie Ross and Mrs. Lucille Lutterman, both of Grundy Center, Mrs. Marie Cobie of Ackley, Mrs. Frances Regen and Mrs. Irene Miller, both of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Grace Lutheran Church. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel of Memories West.
