Vernon Meyeraan

March 3, 1934 - September 11, 2002

Funeral services for Vernon Meyeraan, 68, of Hubbard, were held Saturday, September 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard with Rev. Ronald Ridgway officiating. Organist was Georgia Miller. Casket bearers were Barney Freese, Herb Wheeler, George Chamberlin, Bill Stowe, Harv Simmerman and Dave Stratemeyer. Burial followed at Jackson Township Cemetery, rural Eldora. Boeke Funeral Home, Hubbard was in charge of the arrangements.

Vernon was born on March 3, 1934 in Wellsburg to Frank and Lydia (Harms) Meyeraan. He attended Colfax #3 country school in Hubbard until age 11. The family then moved to Wellsburg. Vernon served in the Army from 1954-1956. On November 14, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Ellison at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg. They moved to Hubbard in November 1964. Vernon was employed as a mechanic working six years in Wellsburg; 32 years as service manager at Kuhlman Chevrolet in Hubbard; and eight years as mechanic at Lawn Hill Coop Station in New Providence. He retired in 1997. He loved to fish. Vernon was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church of Hubbard.

Vernon passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

His survivors include his wife Marilyn of Hubbard; a daughter Loralyn Tintjer and husband Mark of Hubbard; granddaughter Larissa and Micaela Tintjer of Hubbard; six sisters Rosella Obrender and husband Lyle of Jewel, Joann Meyeraan of Ackley, Harriet Murra and husband Clarence of Parkersburg, Charlene Crocheck and husband Ray of Boone, Leona Spieker and husband Lowell of Farmer City, Ill. and Kaylene Scholl and husband Bill of Carlisle; a brother Gary and wife Shirley of Grundy Center; a sister-in-law Joyce Meyeraan of Wellsburg; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Frank Meyeraan Jr.
