Stuart Ashby Dies Friday At Grundy Memorial Hospital

Stuart E. Ashby, 73, of Wellsburg, passed away Friday morning at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center due to an apparent heart attack. He had been taken to the hospital earlier the same day.

His body has been willed to the State University of Iowa, College of Medicine, at Iowa City. There were no services.

He was married to the former Gladys Heddens of Wellsburg. He lived in Chicago most of his life and was employed at the R. R. Donnelley & Sons Publishing Co. of Chicago until retirement. They moved to Wellsburg in 1965.

He was a veteran of World War I and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. He was born on June 5, 1899, at Ft. Scott, Kansas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil R. Ashby.

Survivors are his wife, Gladys; one brother, Don Ashby of Santa Maria, Calif.; two nephews: Wayne Ashby of Columbus, Ohio and Scott Ashby of Minneapolis, Minn. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Forrest Ashby.
