William Meyer Services Held
William "Bud" Meyer, 82, of Holland, passed away Wednesday, April 29, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. Full Military Graveside Rites were conducted by the Grundy Center American Legion Post #349 and Amvets 17. Pastor Charles Ager officiated.
Pallbearers were Dean Meyer, Leland Conradi, Art Finke, Calvin Muller, Jack Stickfort and Leslie Meggers. Honorary pallbearers were Cpl. Chris Meyer and Shayla Meyer.
A memorial fund has been established.
William was born on May 20, 1915, in Colfax Township, Grundy County, the son of Deddo and Ella (Franken) Meyer. On January 10, 1947, he was united in marriage with Edna Finke in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg. He was a member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Grundy Center American Legion Post #349 and Amvets 17.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Eldridge, Tom and Albert; 3 sisters, Grace Finney, Anna Conradi and Alice Hied; and 1 brother and sister in infancy.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of Holland; 2 sons, Dobbie Meyer of Arden Hills, Minnesota and Gary Meyer of Houston, Texas; 1 brother, Alvin Meyer and wife Helen of Holland; 5 sisters, Elizabeth Murphy of Holland, Elaine Mohlis of Idaho, Marian Dieken and husband LaVern of Fort Collins, Colorado, Lorraine Heronimus and husband Cal and Lavine Weichers all of Loveland, Colorado; 2 grandchildren, Cpl. Chris Meyer of Camp LeJune, North Carolina and Shayla Meyer of Toledo; and 1 sister-in-law, Margaret Meyer of Holland.
Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
