Bernard Keith Eilderts, 59, of Grundy Center, died April 10. Funeral services were April 14 at Bethany Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. A memorial fund has been established.

Bernie was born May 22, 1943, in Wellsburg, the son of Koert and Sucela (Vanderwerf) Eilderts. Bernie graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1961. He married LaVonne Venenga on February 2, 1963, at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church. Bernie owned and operated Eilderts Construction in Grundy Center for 33 years. He was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church where he served as a Trustee for several years. He was on the Grundy County Board of Supervisors since January 1, 1985, serving as the Landfill Commission Chairperson and on the Hazardous Materials Team. He had also served on many other community boards.

Survivors include his wife, LaVonne; daughter, Natalie and her husband Shawn Kracht of Grundy Center; son, Brian and his wife Lisa Eilderts of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren; his mother, Sucela Eilderts of Grundy Center; a brother, Wendell and his wife Marie Eilderts of Hampton; and two sisters, Marilyn Ubben of Aplington and Carolyn and her husband Larry Stahl of Holland.

He was preceded in death by his father; and an infant son, Keith Allen Eilderts.
