Charlene passed away Friday September 28, 2018 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa after several battles of cancer.

Funeral services for Charlene Crocheck, 77, of Boone, will be held Wednesday October 3 at 10:00 am, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 703 Arden Street, Boone, Iowa. Rev. Doug Cue will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held 5 to 7 pm, Tuesday October 2, 2018 at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, Boone, IA. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm, Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Wellsburg, Iowa.

Charlene was born at home in rural Hubbard, Iowa on September 7, 1941, the daughter of Frank and Lydia (Harms) Meyeraan. Around the age of 8, the family moved to a farm adjacent to St. Paul Lutheran Church of rural Wellsburg. She was one of nine children raised on the family farm. Charlene attended Colfax #3 Country School and graduated in 1959 from Wellsburg High School in Wellsburg, Iowa.

On February 27, 1965, Charlene married Raymond Crocheck at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, Iowa. She worked for Hach Chemical Company prior to starting a family. Later, she followed her love of gardening by working for Holub Greenhouse for 20 years prior to retirement.

Charlene enjoyed knitting, gardening, fishing and spending time with friends, family and her special friend Lacy the cat. Charlene looked forward to seeing new life every spring during calving season and assisted where she could with the cows. She enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Texas and Mexico, following her retirement.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Frank Meyeraan, Jr and Vernon Meyeraan, and sisters: Rosella Meyeraan Oberender and JoAnn Meyeraan.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Crocheck of Boone, IA; sons: Justin (Michelle) Crocheck of Boone, IA and Jason (Melissa) Crocheck of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Summer and Shawn Crocheck and Bradley Scheller; brother: Gary Meyeraan of Grundy Center, IA; sisters: Harriet (Clarence) Murra of Wellsburg, IA; Leona (Lowell) Spieker of Farmer City, IL; and Kayleen (Bill) Scholl of Carlisle, IA; sisters-in-law: Joyce Meyeraan of Wellsburg, IA and Marilyn Meyeraan of Hubbard, IA; brother-in-law, Lyle Oberender of Webster City, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
