Agnes "Aggie" Ward, 78, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date for a fitting tribute for Agnes. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Agnes and her family.

Agnes Lois Janssen was born at home in Ackley, Iowa; she was the daughter of Henry and Henrietta (Kolthoff) Janssen. Agnes attended school in the Wellsburg Community School District graduating with the Class of 1955. On April 25, 1957, Agnes was united in marriage to Ralph Ward Jr. in Wellsburg, Iowa. They've lived in Marshalltown their entire married lives.

For many years Agnes worked at the family service station, Wards DX, alongside her husband Ralph. She also worked as a waitress at Stones Restaurant, Thunderbird and Fields Restaurants. When she retired she loved helping others and was a volunteer at MMSC, House of Compassion, and Salvation Army. Agnes loved to cook, travel with her husband, spending time with her neighbors and socializing. Agnes never met a stranger. Her greatest time spent was with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved and enjoyed every moment spent with each of them.

Left to cherish Agnes memory is her husband of 58 years, Ralph; children: Mike (Stephanie Nowysz) Ward of Iowa City, Iowa, Cindy (Gary) Wignall of Marion, Iowa, Pam (Mike) Uhde of Marshalltown, Iowa and Vicky (Matt) Rinehart of Scottsdale, Arizona; 9 beautiful granddaughters; and 14 great-grandchildren; siblings: Marvin (Ruth) Janssen and Vernon (Shirley) Janssen Jr. all of Wellsburg, Iowa.

In death Agnes rejoins her parents, Henry and Henrietta; siblings: Virgil, Delmar, Kenneth and Carol; daughter-in-law Theresa Ward; and in-laws, Ralph Ward Sr. and Madge Adolphson.
