Services Sunday For John Sheller

Services were Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Ivester Church of the Brethren for John I. Sheller, 75, a life-long Grundy county resident, who died Friday in the Grundy county Memorial hospital. Burial was in the Ivester church cemetery. Ferree-Abbas funeral home of Grundy Center was in charge of services.

Mr. Sheller was born Jan. 17, 1894, in Grundy County west of Grundy Center, a son of Henry and Emma Sheller. He was married to Alice Schwab Jan. 20, 1916, on her family's farm in the same vicinity where he lived.

Mr. Sheller farmed all of his adult life until retiring six or seven years ago. He lived with his son 10 miles west of Grundy Center after his wife died in 1964.

Survivors are two sons, Howard of rural Eldora and Gerald of Corpus Christi, Tex.; one daughter, Mrs. Jeawn McDonough of Grinnell; two brothers, Glen of rural Eldora and Henry of Lake Hughes, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Harlan (Frances) Smith of North Manchester, Ind., Mrs. Ruth Heckman of Polo, Ill., and Mrs. Lois Hughes of Fresno, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his wife and parents, by four brothers.

Casket bearers at the service Sunday were Virgil McDonough, Sam Kell Jr., Donald Sheller, Arthur Duske III, Charles Sheller, and Dean Sheller.

Those furnishing cars for the family were Harold Hogle, Clarence Hogle, Edgar Moats, Linus Doughty, Glen Button, and J. A. Smith.

Rev. John Ditmars was in charge of services. Music was provided by Russell Kruse, and Mrs. Lois Kruse at the organ. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Tom Reeder and Mrs. Glen Moats.
