Mrs. Kate Schwarck Dies At Age 97

Mrs. Kate Schwarck died last Thursday forenoon at the Grundy hospital where she had been confined three weeks following a stroke. She was 97 years old.

The body was taken to the Ferree Funeral Home where funeral arrangements were made. Funeral services were held at the Ivester church at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The body was taken to the church Saturday afternoon. The Ivester pastor, Rev. John Ditmars, conducted the service. Burial was in the Sheller cemetery in Melrose township.

Mrs. Schwarck was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sheller. She was born on a farm in Melrose township Sept. 30, 1968, and she grew up there. Her maiden name was Kate Sheller. She was married to George Schwarck in 1895. The couple resided during most of their married life on a Melrose township farm. They resided in Cedar Falls from 1922 until 1945 after which they returned to Grundy county. Mr. Schwarck died August 3, 1954.

Surviving members of her family are one daughter, Marlys, Mrs. Warren Eyre, Grundy Center.

Aside from her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Music at the service was by Russell Kruse, with Mrs. LeRoy Cakerice as organist.

Pallbearers were Basil Snyder, Linus Doughty, Lewis Price, Geo. Paxton, Fred Dinnes and Sam Elliott.
