Ivester Rites For John Murdock, 84

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at the Ivester Church of the Brethren for John Henry Murdock, 84, who died Monday, April 24, in Florida.

Rev. Phil and Rev. Louise Rieman will officiate with Karen Cakerice as vocalist and Lois Kruse as organist. Flower ladies will be Marcella Jordening and Lois Hess.

Casket bearers will be Don Butler, Roy Cakerice, Howard Cakerice, Kenneth Cakerice, Gary Button and Lloyd Draper, with interment in the Sheller Cemetery. Andrle and Creps Funeral Home of Eldora is handling arrangements.

John Henry Murdock was born October 12, 1904 in Idell county, North Carolina to William Allis and Mary Lou McConnell Murdock.

On March 29, 1924, he was married to Blanche Lackey at Hidnight, North Carolina. In 1929 he moved to Iowa to farm in the New Providence area.

In 1936 he moved to the Ivester community where he farmed until his retirement in 1969. On May 23, 1957, he married Mary M. Lacky Campbell at Alexandria, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche; three brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Melbourne, Florida; one son and three daughters, John H. Murdock of Marshalltown, Betty Murdock of Fort Dodge, Janelle Kewatt of Burlington, North Carolina and Dorris Murdock of Boise, Idaho; two sisters, Sara Peffer of Denver, Colorado and Lavania Reavis of Charlotte, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
