Galen Wilford Schrock was born April 15, 1910, to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Schrock of Grundy County, Iowa. During his childhood years, he lived in various communities in Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas, where his father served as pastor in the Church of the Brethren. In his late teens he settled in the Union Ridge community in Franklin County, Iowa, where he was employed as a farm hand.
He was united in marriage to Alice Delp on May 4, 1933, and shortly after their marriage, they established their home on the farm in Franklin County where he resided until his death. To this union four children were born: Dean, Sharon, Sandra and Gordon.
His father preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn him his mother Alma of Manly, Iowa; his wife Alice of rural Hampton; his children, Dean and Lorraine Schrock of Lawrence, Kansas, Gordon and Cindy Schrock of Dumont, Terry and Sharon Weddle of Bloom, Kansas, and Larry and Sandra Schlehuber of Topeka, Kansas. There are also 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Lois) Delp of Manly, Mrs. Merrill (Olive) Shock of El Centro, California, and Mrs. Warren (Faye) Streitwieser of Rockwell, Texas; two brothers, Merlin Schrock of Indio, Calif. and Virgil Schrock of Waterloo, plus many other relatives and friends.
Baptized into the Church of the Brethren at Council Bluffs at the age of nine, Mr. Schrock always exemplified his faith in service to his neighbors providing assistance and friendship wherever and however he could. He died at his home on June 6. Services were in Dumont on June 8 and in the Ivester Church of the Brethren on June 9, with burial in the Sheller Cemetery in Grundy County, Iowa.
