Mrs. Abel Propst Died In Texas

Mrs. Abel (Julia Ellen) Propst, 87, former area resident, who had been making her home with a son in McAllen, Texas, died Monday morning at the Twinbrook Nursing Home.

Born Julia Ellen Kennedy, November 28, 1889, she was the daughter of Leroy and Catherine Albright Kennedy. She received her education and grew to womanhood in the area of her birth.

In 1913, she was married to Abel E. Propst and they farmed for 63 years in the Eldora, Grundy Center and Marshalltown areas with the last 40 years near Marshalltown.

Surviving is her husband, Abel, a son and a daughter, Irving E. Propst of McAllen, Texas and Margaret Imburgia of Glendale, Calif. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, 2 sisters, Barbara Freidrickson of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Ida May Matheny of Dayton, Virginia and a brother Roy Kennedy of Marshalltown.

Services will be held from the Iowa River Church of the Brethren at 1:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. B. D. Hinegardner, pastor and the Rev. John Wagner of Waterloo officiating. Friends may call at the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home from noon Wednesday until 9:00 a.m. Friday.
