Viola Slifer Services Held

Bessie "Viola" Slifer, of Ackley, formerly of Grundy Center, passed away Wednesday, June 23, at the Presbyterian Home of Ackley, having attained the age of 94 years, 10 months and 3 days.

Memorial services were held Saturday, June 26 at First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center at 10 a.m.

Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Grundy Center.

Viola was born August 20, 1898, in Melrose Township, Grundy County, the daughter of Orben Ervil and Lillie Mae (White) Slifer. She received her education in rural schools in Grundy County, then attended nursing school in Chicago. Viola practiced nursing for 16 years, then was employed as a grocery store clerk for 35 years, retiring in 1975.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
