Service At Ivester For Alice Schrock

The funeral service for Alice Schrock was held at the Ivester Church of the Brethren Thursday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. Pastors Marlene Neher and Mary Jane Button-Harrison officiated, assisted by Student Pastor Lois Grove.

Alice Dail Delp was born in Grundy County Aug. 9, 1910. She was the daughter of Fred and Anna Snapp Delp and at the age of nine, her family moved from the Ivester community to a farm in Franklin County. She graduated from the Hansell Consolidated Schools and obtained a teacher's certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. She had a 34 year teaching career during which she earned educational credits from Wartburg College, the University of Iowa and Drake University.

She married Galen W. Schrock, May 4, 1933. In retirement, at the time of her death, she was a member of the Ivester Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon and husband Terry Weddle, Minneola, KS, Sandy Schlehuber, Topeka, KS; and two sons, Robert Schrock and wife Lorraine, Lawrence, KS; and Gordon Schrock and wife Cindy, Dumont; and an adopted sister, Jeanette Gahwiller, Cedar Rapids. Also 14 children call her grandma and 14 children called her great-grandma. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and one brother.
