Lamoille Kinney
April 5, 1919 - April 8, 2002

Funeral services for Lamoille M. Kinney, 83, of Des Moines, formerly Eldora were held Friday, April 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora with Pastor Corey Larson officiating. Burial followed at the Sheller Cemetery north of Ivester. Creps-Abels Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Lamoille M. Duncan was born April 5, 1919 in Nevada, Mo. to Willie "Ray" and Artie (Conkle) Duncan. As an infant she moved with her family to Marshalltown where she graduated from high school in 1937. On June 30, 1939 she was united in marriage to Cecil Kinney in Marshalltown and in 1949 they moved to Owasa. While in Owasa they operated Kinney's Jack Sprat Store and operated the post office from their store for some time. In 1961 they moved to Eldora where they operated Kinney's Recreation Parlor. Cecil died on January 2, 1991 and in May of 1996 Lamoille moved to Des Moines to live with her daughter, Linda. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, enjoyed needlework, word puzzles, solitaire and reading.

Lamoille passed away Monday, April 8, 2002 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Her survivors include daughter Linda (Dan) VanderHart of Des Moines; sons Allan (Belva) Kinney of New Providence and Russell (Sonja) Kinney of Eldora; sister Donna (Wayne) Stonewall of Marshalltown; brothers Carl (Shirley) Duncan of Trabuco Canyon, Calif. and Kenneth (Betty) Kinney of Marshalltown; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Cecil; and an infant brother Dewey.
