Virginia Lau, 98, of Gladbrook, IA passed away Monday, April 29, 2013, at Grundy Memorial Hospital, in Grundy Center, IA. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Gladbrook United Methodist Church, in Gladbrook. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., until the time of the services at the church. Interment will be at Sheller Cemetery in rural Ivester following a luncheon. The Gladbrook Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Virginia was born February 4, 1915 to Everett and Mabel (Ashworth) Redix in Connelsville, MO. She graduated from Whitten High School in 1933. She was united in marriage to Ernest Lau on December 19, 1939 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She engaged in farming along with her husband in the rural Grundy County area before moving to their Gladbrook farm where they farmed for over 50 years. They moved to Gladbrook in 2003. She was a member of the Gladbrook United Methodist Church where she was former president of the UNW circle. She also was a member of the ladies Farm Bureau. Virginia loved to travel.
She will be missed by her daughter, Sharon (Erroll) Allen of Traer, a son, Steven (Ann) Lau of Shiloh, IL, five grandchildren Tim, Jeff, and Autumn, Sheri and Sheila, five great-grandchildren, Santana, Jeffery, Brittani, Aaron, and Richard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, a grandson, Marty, and four brothers; Leonard, Leland, Millard, and Dean Redix.
