LaVonne Kruschwitz, 74, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at her home with her loving family by her side.
A public memorial service will be held at a later time with the date to be announced. Private family burial will be in Sheller Cemetery near Wellsburg, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed in LaVonnes name to her family or to Saint Jude Hospice, 2900 100th Street Suite 103, Urbandale, Iowa 50322. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for LaVonne and her family.
LaVonne Marie Albin was born on February 11, 1939 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Rev. Charles and Ica (Vought) Albin. She lived the first thirteen years of her life in Ottumwa and then moved with her family to rural Grundy County, Iowa where her father became the pastor of the Ivester Church of the Brethren. She continued her education in the Eldora school district graduating from Eldora High School in 1957. Following high school LaVonne spent two years in McPherson, Kansas going to McPherson College. She was united in marriage to Forrest Kruschwitz on June 27, 1959, at the Ivester Church of the Brethren in rural Grundy County.
LaVonne spent most of her years as a dedicated and faithful homemaker. She was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church in Ames. LaVonne had a passion for sewing, biking, crocheting and had a great love for her family (especially her grandchildren). She will be lovingly remembered for her warm smile and her contagious laugh.
Left to cherish her memory is her spouse: Forrest Kruschwitz; children: Kevin (Beth) Kruschwitz of Nevada, Iowa and Kristine (Andy) Smith of Omaha, Nebraska. Grandchildren: Brittney, Lexi, Kaylee and Kody Kruschwitz, Blaize and Sarah Smith; siblings: Kathleen (Jerry) Waterman of Marshalltown, Iowa and Robert (Kathy) Albin of West Des Moines, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Wes Albin.
