Calvin A. Walker, who located on a farm near this place in 1856, died Saturday evening, March 14, 1899[sic], at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. America Kennison. Mr. Walker was born in Hartford, Conn., Sept. 5, 1814. Was married to Miss Mary Arnold, June 20th, 1848, and moved to Huntington, Ill., and in 1856 to Grundy county, Iowa. Mr. Walker united with the Advent church in 1860 and has since been an active member. About twenty-eight years ago he was severely injured by a load of hay tipping over with him which caused partial paralysis of one side, from which he has suffered greatly since, and from which cause he died.
