Services for Ward Bailey, 81, were held Friday from First United Methodist Church with the Rev. J. Ellis Webb officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Township Cemetery near New Hartford and Surls Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Bailey died Wednesday at his home near Iowa Falls.
Ward Bailey was born July 24, 1900, at Hubbard, the son of George W. and Ava Mills Bailey. He and Neva G. Brock were married at Iowa City June 1, 1925, first farmed east of Iowa Falls and in 1939 purchased their farm near Siloam Springs. After retiring in 1955 they moved to Denver, Colo., where Mr. Bailey was in business for four years and then returned to Iowa Falls in 1959. Mr. Bailey was a member of First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Amy Smith of New York City and Marlene Harper of New Hartford; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren of Eldora; and a sister, Beulah Warnecke of Iowa Falls. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by a granddaughter and three sisters.
