Word has reached here of the death of Ethel Ingalls Phillips of Lena, Ill., at the Freeport Manor Nursing Home at Freeport, Ill. She was 98 years of age at the time of her death. She was born Jan. 10, 1888, in Grundy County on the farm that had been homesteaded by her grandfather, Jasper Harrison Ingalls. Her parents, Henry and Alma Burns Ingalls are buried in Fairfield Cemetery. When Ethel was a young girl they moved to New Hartford and she graduated from the New Hartford school in 1904. The Rev. Woods was the Baptist minister here then and he accepted a pastorate in Lena, Ill., and later when Ethel visited the Woods there, she met her future husband, Harry Philips and they were married March 30, 1910, at the bride's home in New Hartford. She is a distant cousin of Ernie and John Ingalls.
