John Huisman Passes Away In Cheyenne
John B. Huisman of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday morning, November 17 at the DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne due to a massive heart attack. He reached the age of 62 years and 14 days.
Services were held on Saturday, November 19 at 10 a.m. at the Wiederspahn Chapel of the Chimes, with Rev. Stanley Guille officiating. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Cheyenne.
John was born on November 3, 1921, in Wellsburg, the son of Frank and Grace Huisman and graduated from the Wellsburg High School with the Class of 1938. He was married to Marjorie Gartin on January 10, 1948. He had lived in Cheyenne since 1947.
He served as Laramie county clerk from 1966 to 1974, prior to which he was a deputy clerk from 1964 to 1966.
He assumed the position as manager and treasurer of the VFW Federal Credit Union in 1975, a post he held at the time of his death. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church in Cheyenne.
Preceding him in death were: his father, Frank Huisman, and a brother, Dennis D. Huisman.
Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie; his daughter, Janet Beth Huisman of Cheyenne; his mother, Mrs. Grace Huisman of Wellsburg; and a brother, Charles Lee Huisman of Ames.
