Eldon J. Huisman, 85, Sarasota, died Sept. 23, 2005. He was born June 9, 1920, in Wellsburg, Iowa, and came to Sarasota 25 years ago from Rochester, Minn.

He practiced law in Iowa and Minnesota before retiring in 1978. He was a graduate of Drake University Law School and served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946, receiving the Bronze Star. He was a member and commander of the Iowa State AMVETS and a member of First Congregational Church.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Mildred; a daughter, Mona of St. Helena, Calif.; sons Duane of Palm Harbor and Larry of Sarasota; brothers Eugene of Holland, Iowa, Ralph of Grundy Center, Iowa, and Mayo of Rapid City, S.D.; and a grandchild.

Services were private. Packer Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
