Edna Pabst Services Held

Edna Pabst, of Grundy Center, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, January 15, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center having attained the age of 87 years, 10 months and 19 days.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 18, at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center with Pastor Robert Bartlett officiating. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Pallbearers were Matt Buus, Steve Thomassen, Ron Voss, Greg Andersen, Mike Dieken and Gary Andersen.

Born February 17, 1909, in Colfax Township, Grundy County, Edna was the daughter of Claas and Alice (Neessen) Claassen. She received her education in Grundy County Schools and on November 30, 1933, was united in marriage to Ralph A. Pabst at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland.

Edna was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. She was an excellent cook, and also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and growing roses. She received special pleasure from spending time with her family.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on May 7, 1995; her parents; 1 sister, Helen Buus; and 1 brother, LeRoy Claassen.

Survivors include 1 son, Maurell Pabst and wife Rilla Jo of Grundy Center; 1 grandson, Jeff Pabst and wife Marcy of Grundy Center; 3 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica and Erica Pabst, all of Grundy Center; 2 sisters, Lucille Thomassen of Grundy Center and Marlys Dieken of Dike; and 1 sister-in-law, Iona Claassen of Grundy Center.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
