Grace Ulferts Services Held

Grace Ulferts, 85, of Portage, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, June 7, at the Divine Savior Nursing Home in Portage.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 10, from the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Portage with the Rev. Mark Bartusch officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grave Cemetery at Portage.

Grace Alice Lutterman was born September 17, 1908, at Wellsburg, to Henry and Annie (Siebrandts) Lutterman. She had taught classes in a one room school in Iowa.

In December of 1929, she was united in marriage with Louis Ulferts in Wellsburg. In 1948, she and her husband moved to the Portage area. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Portage where she served as Secretary for the Cradle Roll. She was also a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Bank and a devoted mother throughout her life.

Survivors include four children, Betty (Don) Levzow of Portage, Hazel (Ray) Rogers of Caledonia Township, Lou (Chet) Bradley of Sun Prairie, and Gordon Ulferts of Portage; 4 grandchildren, Steven Sloggy of Portage, Jean (Bill) Busser of Vernon Center, Minnesota, David (Carey) Rogers of Mt. Horeb, and Julie (Jim Pauf) Ulferts of Manitowoc; 2 step-grandchildren, Douglas (Julie) Levzow of Portage and Donna (Jeff) Brown of Oxford; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Herbert Lutterman of Pensicola, Florida; and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Ulferts was preceded in death by her husband in 1970; her parents; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Hamele-Ulferts.
