Harm Huisman

Buffalo Center--Harm Huisman, 90, of Buffalo Center, died Tuesday (Dec. 30, 1997) at his home in Buffalo Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Gerald Dyste, officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Buffalo Center.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Winter Funeral Home, Buffalo Center, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Harm Huisman, son of Tyle and Ettje (Kruger) Huisman, was born Nov. 13, 1907, in Holland, Iowa.

Harm attended school in Wellsburg and graduated from High School in 1926.

After graduation he went to work for the Rock Island Railroad in Wellsburg. He worked for the railroad for 50 years at different places around Iowa.

On Jan. 28, 1931, he married Rena Weichers at Eldora, Iowa. They later moved to Ely, Iowa. During this time, five children were born to Harm and Rena.

Harm loved gardening, hunting and fishing, and golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Rena, of Buffalo Center; three sons, Roland and his wife, Eileen Huisman, of Tahachapi, Calif.; Alan Huisman, of Omaha, Neb.; and Duane and Betty Huisman, of Waverly, Iowa; one daughter, LaVerda Huisman, of Clear Lake; a sister, Esther VanDeest, of Wellsburg; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a infant son; four brothers, Tyle, Brian, Theodore and Andrew; and one sister, Elizabeth Dimke.
