Johanna Middleton Services Thursday

Mrs. Milo (Johanna) Middleton, age 73, of Grundy Center, died Tuesday morning, 6:20 a.m., at the Acute Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

She is survived by her mother, Elsie Muller of Grundy Center; her husband, Milo; one son, Michael of Redwood City, California; one daughter, Toni Middleton of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and one granddaughter.

A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will follow in next weeks Register.

Services Held For Mrs. Milo Middleton

Johanna Middleton, age 73, of Grundy Center, died Tuesday morning, May 26, 1981 at 6:20 a.m. at the Acute Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 28, 1981 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center with the Rev. Thomas P. Harp officiating.

Mrs. Larry Burkholder played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude. Casketbearers were Lloyd Dreesman, Keith Bailey, Claude Lines, Hollis Miller, Harry Ascher and Joe D. Ross. Ushers were Floyd Rouse and George Hauser. Mrs. Ernest Blythe and Mrs. Paul Slinker were in charge of floral arrangements.

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends and relatives were invited to return to the church following the committal service for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mrs. Middleton was born on November 25, 1907 in Wellsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Dick and Elsie Huisman Muller. She grew up in Wellsburg and graduated from Wellsburg high school in 1925. She then went to Ellsworth College. After graduation she taught in several county schools. On June 20, 1929 in Waukon, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Milo M. Middleton. After their marriage she continued to teach until 1940. She then became the World Book representative for this area for over 25 years. She was a substitute for the Grundy Center school system.

Mrs. Middleton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, she taught Sunday School, and served on several pulpit committees for new ministers.

She was preceded in death by her father, one sister Mary, and one brother, Dick Jr.

Those left to mourn her passing are: her mother, Elsie Muller of Grundy Center; her husband, Milo; one son, Michael, of Redwood City, California; one daughter, Toni Middleton of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and one granddaughter, Jessica.

A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
