Lillian Peters Services Held
Lillian Peters, of Maple Manor of Aplington, passed away Tuesday, July 12, at Maple Manor Care Center in Aplington. She reached the age of 87 years, 3 months and 24 days.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 15, at First Congregational Church in Parkersburg with Rev. Harvey Hertz officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg.
Pallbearers were Brenda Buseman, Harlan Peters, Randall Peters, Christopher Peters, Sandra Peters and Jennifer White.
Lillian was born the daughter of Ben H. and Anna DeVries Lindaman on March 18, 1907, in Wellsburg. She graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1925. She then attended Morningside College in Sioux City, graduating in 1928 having a degree in German and English Literature.
Lillian married William Wesley Peters on August 22, 1928, in Wellsburg Reformed Church. The couple then farmed north of Aplington until 1963 when they retired and moved to Aplington. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Parkersburg where she taught Bible School and Sunday School, was a Deaconess and belonged to Guild and Missionary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband; 1 daughter, Jenny Lou; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Jade; and her parents.
Lillian is survived by 2 sons, Stewart and Benton, both of Aplington; 1 daughter, Barbara Whit of Jesup; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Schwartz Funeral Home of Aplington was in charge of the arrangements.
