Dan Harrington Died Saturday

Dan Harrington, age 81, died Saturday morning at 1:20 at the hospital at Grundy Center, where he had been since July 11. Cause of death was carcinoma.

He was born Aug. 14, 1871, in Wisconsin and come to Grundy county as a young man and worked on farms in this vicinity. He married Miss Eva King here in 1917. They made their home in Dike where Mr. Harrington was a tiler by trade. Mrs. Harrington preceded him in death in 1937. Mr. Harrington was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church south of Dike.

Surviving are a half brother, Jerry Harrington of Carroll, Ia., and a half sister, Mrs. Ethel Barnard of Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Barnard came here and cared for her brother several weeks before he was taken to the hospital. Other known relative is a cousin, Mrs. Frances Duffey of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Marys church. The body was at Dahl Funeral home in Cedar Falls where the rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial was at Elmwood cemetery in Dike.
