Mrs. Belle Banse died in the Grundy Memorial Hospital last Thursday where she had been a patient since February 19. She had been in failing health during the past year. Had she lived until March 15, she would have been 83 years old.

Resided in County Nearly All Her Life
Mrs. Banse was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Wallace. She was born in DeWitt, Iowa, and came to Grundy county with her parents when she was a baby. The family located on a farm in Lincoln township, Grundy county, in October 1871. The farm has remained in the family ever since. Within recent years Mrs. Banse, who was sole owner of the 160-acre farm, deeded it to her niece, Mrs. Lucille Wells, and reserved a life interest in the place.

Belle Wallace and John Banse were married in Grundy Center in July 1906. He died March 5, 1930. All of their married life was in Grundy Center.

Her husband and brother-in-law were partners in the grocery business for many years in Grundy Center, retiring in 1923.

She was an active member of Ruth Chapter O.E.S. up to the time of her death, also a member of the First Presbyterian church and a former member of the Grundy Center Woman's club.

She had two sisters, one of whom died in infancy and the other, Mrs. John W. Lamar, died March 16, 1948. Her only surviving relatives are a niece, Mrs. Lucille L. Wells, and grand-nephew, Everett Deane Wells Jr., both of Pittsburgh.

Friends and relatives from out of town at the Banse funeral were Lucille L. Wells, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shellhase and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Flickinger and Vernon Banse, all of Garrison; Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Eastham, Charles City.
