Sam Hohenberger Dies in Hospital

Samuel Hohenberger, who spent his active life on Grundy county farms, died last Thursday at the Grundy hospital.

Leukemia was the cause of his death. He entered the hospital for the first time last November. He was 67 years old.

Funeral services were held at the Engelkes Funeral Home in Grundy Center Monday afternoon at 1:30 and later at the Baptist church in Grundy Center. Rev. Mohr officiated at the service. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery. Mrs. H. B. Schaa and Mrs. Wilbur Callaway sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me." Berdene Bartels was organist.

Mr. Hohenberger was born at Batesville, Indiana, April 8, 1886. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hohenberger. 36 years ago he came to Grundy county and was employed on Grundy county farms until December 3, 1919, when he was married to Iona Meyers. The couple resided on a Lincoln township farm the first year of their married life. The following year they moved to a farm two miles south of Grundy Center where they have since lived.

Surviving are the wife; three sons, Russell from Dike, and Roy and Kenneth, Grundy Center; two grandchildren; two brothers, Will and John, Greenburg, Indiana; 3 sisters, Mrs. Fred Alexander, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Margaret Hohenberger, San Francisco, and Louise Hohenberger, Greenburg, Indiana.
