Berniece Bangasser, 95, of Ackley, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Grand JiVante in Ackley. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Bethel Reformed Church in Aplington with burial in the Faith Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Born on April 12, 1923, she was the 5th and last child of Henry K. and Minnie C. (Burma) Brower born on the family farm in Butler County, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Aplington and on August 14, 1941 married Merlin F. Bangasser of Ackley. They became the parents of five children Lynn, Wanda, DeAlda, Brian and Delene.

Her main hobby was music, both singing and playing piano. She played “by ear” and could play anything she heard only once.

Berniece is survived by her five children Lynn and his wife Jane of Ackley, Wanda and her husband Gordon Fritz of Sioux Center, IA, DeAlda and her husband Marvin Kramer of Denver, IA, Brian Bangasser of Ackley and Delene and her husband Randy Knoll of Ackley, 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merlin in 2006, her son-in-law David Diemer, her granddaughter Kaye Elizabeth Fritz and her 4 siblings Lawrence and Calvin Brower, Dorothy Stubbe and Vylas Abbas.
