Ardella Geerdes, 80, of Wellsburg, IA, passed away Monday, September 4, 2017, at Mary Greeley Hospital, in Ames, IA. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Peace United Church of Christ, in Gladbrook, IA. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., until the time of the services, at the church. Inurnment will follow lunch, at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery, in Steamboat Rock, IA. Arrangements are entrusted to Anderson Funeral Homes.

Ardella was born June 19, 1937, to Lester “Boots” and Berneda (Paustian) Thede, in Gladbrook, IA. She graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1955. She furthered her education at the Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA. Ardella was united in marriage to Don Geerdes on June 28, 1969, in Gladbrook. She taught school in Wellsburg and eventually Wellsburg Steamboat Rock for a combined total of 40 years, retiring in 1997. Ardella also assisted in tax preperation for H&R Block, in Wellsburg, for many years. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ. Ardella served on the Wellsburg Public Library committee and was the secretary for the Wellsburg Veterans Memorial project. She was very active in many other projects, activities, and events, in the Wellsburg community. Ardella loved to play cards, especially Bridge.

Ardella will be missed by her husband, Don, a sister Vivian (Stanley) Berthusen of Warsaw, IN, a nephew, Andrew (Chie) Berthusen of Tokyo, Japan, and a grand niece, Nari. She was preceded in death by her parents.
