Tena Boelts

Tena Boelts was born July 20, 1894, the daughter of Meint K. and Anna (VanLoh) Huesman on the family farm in Grundy County. She received her education in a country school in that area. She was a long time member of the West Friesland Presbyterian Church.

She was united in marriage to Herman W. Boelts on December 10, 1919 at the family home.

Survivors are four children, a daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Boekhoff of Aplington, and three sons, Marvin of rural Holland, LaVern of rural Wellsburg and Herman of Ackley. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, Lizzie Huesman and Mrs. Fredrick (Esther) Janssen of Ackley, and Mrs. Joe (Johanna) Janssen of Cedar Falls, and one brother, Klaas (Sam) Huesman of Ackley. Preceding her in death were her husband, an infant son, her parents, five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 2, at 1:30 p.m. at West Friesland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kenneth Remer officiating. Mrs. Laura DeVries was organist. Soloist was Willie Aalderks, who was accompanied by Randy Aalderks. Ushers were Virgil Janssen and Lawrence Hartema. Serving as pallbearers were Mervin Boekhoff, Daniel Boelts, Arlen Boelts, Ronald Boelts, Leon Boelts and Darwin Boelts. Interment was in the church cemetery.

The Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
