Nellie K. Betten, 76, of Layton, Utah, passed away July 8, 1993 at Layton. Services were held Tuesday, July 14 at 7 p.m. at the Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Rotgers officiating. Casketbearers were Mike Jorgensen, Ivon Jorgensen, Paul Rotgers, Bernard Betten, Duane Betten and John Heitland. Interment will be in West Friesland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with graveside services at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Nellie K. Betten was born April 1, 1917 at Aplington, the daughter of John and Gertie Abbas Koppedreyer. She was a graduate of the Aplington High School. On February 12, 1937 she was married to Louis Betten at Hampton. She was retired from the Hill Air Force Base, Utah, where she worked 19 years as a secretary. Mrs. Betten was a member of the Odgen Christian Reformed Church. She had been a resident of Iowa for 35 years and of Ogden and Layton, Utah and New Mexico for 41 years.
She attended business refresher courses at Henagers in Ogden. She was an associate member of the First Christian Church in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. She enjoyed showing her needlework at the David County Fair and was a secretary of Wally Byam Caravan Club International. She did volunteer work in Truth or Consequences for various organizations.
Survivors include her husband, Louis of Layton, Utah; two sons and their wives, Clifford L. and Natalie Betten of Roy, Utah and Darwin N. and Chris Betten of Lima, Montana; a daughter, Ramona K. and her husband, Ivan Jorgensen of Preston, Utah; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a sister, Hilda Rotgers of Ackley.
