BETTEN, MAIFIELD, KOPPELDREYER

Louis Betten, 82, of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, formerly of Ackley, died February 27, 2000 at his home.

He was born April 21, 1917 in Aplington, Iowa, the son of Adam and Roselie Maifield Betten. He graduated from Thomas High School in 1934 in Watertown, South Dakota. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945, as a Machinist's Mate Third Class.

Betten married Nellie Koppeldreyer in Hampton, Iowa, February 12, 1937. He farmed with his father-in-law in the Aplington area until 1952, when he moved to Utah and did maintenance at Hill Field Air Force Base in Lyton, Utah.

He attended the First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one great-grandchild, Randee Craw.

Survivors include: one daughter, Ramona Jorgesen and her husband, Ivan, of Preston, Idaho; two sons, Clifford Betten and his wife, Natalie, of Roy, Utah, and Darwin Betten and his wife, Chris, of DuBois, Idaho; one brother, John (Jack) Betten of Ackley; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were March 2 at Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Miller officiating.

Interment was in West Friesland Cemetery in rural Ackley. Full military rites were provided by Elliot-Keninger American Legion Post #252 of Ackley.

Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home of Ackley was in charge of the arrangements.
