Virgil William Ackerman

Virgil William Ackerman, son of William and Gertie Meyer Ackerman was born February 18, 1920 in rural Madison County near Earlham.

Ackerman attended Penn Center Country School #6 and graduated from Dexter High School in 1939. With his father William, Ackerman continued the family farm operation south of Earlham.

He enjoyed attending auctions and collecting antiques. He loved nature; land, trees and animals.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 1994 at West Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley.

Mike Pace gave remarks and pallbearers were Mark Ackerman, Steve Ackerman, Tom Ackerman, Clint Uhlenhopp, Mike Pace and Mike Frey. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Breeding, Harold Frey, Dean Nelson and Frank Inman.

Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Preceding him in death was his father William, his mother Gertie, and his brother Oscar.

Survivors include a sister, Virginia, Walnut Creek, California.

Kuhn Funeral Home of Earlham and Dexter was in charge of the arrangements.
