Wealthy Maria Rogers was born in Hartland, Windsor county, Vermont, Feb. 10, 1833, and died in Holland, Grundy county, Iowa, June 6, 1898, aged 65 years, 3 months, 26 days. She was married to Orwell Bailey at Shadsville, Vt., Feb. 16, 1856. Four of the five sons born to them are residing in this county. Mrs. Bailey had a host of friends as was manifested at the final obsequies. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in the county. Rev. W. H. Jordan of Grundy Center, preached a short, earnest sermon at the family residence, and Rev. B. VanderLas spoke briefly in the German language at the cemetery.
