Services For Mrs. R. O. Aiken Monday
Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. R. O. Aiken, who died at a Marshalltown hospital Friday following an operation on Wednesday of last week, at the Aiken home at 2 o'clock and at the Ivester church. Rev. E. M. Frantz was in charge of the service. Interment was in the Ivester cemetery.
Mrs. Aiken was born Fern Crouse August 27, 1894, in Felix township, the daughter of Harvey and Georgia Crouse, and spent practically all of her life in Grundy county. She was married to R. O. Aiken January 29, 1914, and the family lived in the Ivester community for 15 years and moved to Grundy Center in 1929. Mr. and Mrs. Aiken celebrated their silver wedding anniversary January 29, of this year. Mrs. Aiken was 44 years old at the time of her death.
She had been a true Christian mother who worked for her family without complaint. Her family who survives her includes her husband, her mother, Mrs. Georgia Crouse; eight children, Homer, Harold, Marjorie, Mildred, Mariam, Marilyn, Junior and Myrna, who is three years of age; one sister, Mrs. Frank Aiken of Eldora; and two brothers, Ray Crouse and W. S. Crouse of Conrad.
