Arelene Evelyn Pruisner, age 86, of Aplington, Iowa, was born on February 6, 1927, on the family farm near Aplington, the daughter of Albert H. and Grace (Buseman) Tjebkes. She attended rural country school near Parkersburg until 3rd grade, followed by country school near Allison until her senior year, and then graduated from Dike High School in 1943.

Arelene was united in marriage with Gordon Pruisner on June 16, 1944, at her parent’s farm near Parkersburg. To this union five children were born. The couple made their home and farmed in the Aplington area for a number of years. Arelene was a full time mother, seamstress and also raised many foster children over the years.

Arelene was a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Aplington where she was active in Bible Study and became known by fellow church members as the “Prayer Warrior”. She enjoyed playing piano, cards, helped establish “Share Iowa” in the Aplington area and loved flowers. Perhaps one of her greatest joys was time spent with her family.
