Henry Feikes, age 85, of Ackley, died on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Peters Country Church in Wellsburg with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 Friday at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Henry Feikes was born on May 27, 1928 in Aplington to Luppe and Theda (Wubbena) Feikes. He was united in marriage to Darlene June DeVries on December 29, 1950 at the East Friesland Parsonage. He then joined the army in 1951 and served in Korea where he was a P.O.W. He was a St. Peter’s board member for 25 years, their treasurer for 12 years and he was a member of the American Legion.

Henry is survived by his daughter Diane (Calvin) Werkman of Wellsburg, his son Dean (Janet) Feikes of Ackley, his granddaughters Lindsey Feikes of Rochester, MN and Tara Feikes of Cedar Falls, his brothers Fred and Louie Feikes of Ackley and his sister Annie Oelmann of Iowa Falls.

He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, his parents, his brother Meint, his sister Martha and an infant sister Annie.
